Xano 2.0 - Xano’s October 2025 Release: A New Era for NCLC Backend Builders
Today’s Xano release feels like one of those moments where the ground shifts beneath your feet, but in a good way. The new features reach far beyond incremental improvements as they’re opening doors for how teams of all sizes can build, automate, and scale backend systems. This latter aspect especially felt cumbersome in teams where not every member was willing to explore the power of LCNC.
Here's a non-fulfilling list of what took our breath away so far:
Xanoscript
The Xano language. It is a new configuration language that borrows best practice ideas from popular configuration and scripting languages and turns it into a common language that can manage and execute logic on your Xano backend, manage your tables and so much more. The pure existence of xanoscript enables better AI assistance and 10x-ing the code review process. Furthermore, with the existence of xanoscript we can now actually write Xano logic outside of Xano.
VSCode Extension
AI-enabled IDEs are popping up every week, but there are a few notable ones that have already proven efficient companions for developers. Through the extension they now have a quick and easy way to interact with your Xano instance. The syntax of Xanoscript helps AI to write correct code as well.
Git(hub) syncronisation
While Xano has already been working hard to allow version control and team-collaboration with it's branching and datasources features, a true integration with git providers felt missing. With the new release Xano can push changes from Xano to git providers. See the documentation here. It is important to note that Xano is the source of truth, which makes the one-way intergration the only option via the built in connector.
At calycode we have faced similar requirements in the past and that's why we have built the generate repo and generate xanoscript commands into our CLI (get it from npm here). As pointed out in the documentation video of Xano, by utilising Github, it is now easier than ever to also share your work from Xano.
Static hosting
Now you can host frontend logic alongisde your Xano backend. It's essentially opening the possibility for Xano to become a complete infrastructure solution, not just a DB, REST api, Websocket server or MCP-server.
Metadata API overhaul
We care about this a lot, as we have been exploring the Metadata API of Xano for quite some time now. This time we've got a lot to unpack, probably gonna need a separate article for it. In short, the Metadata API now exposes a much wider range of endpoints that allow programmatic control and management of APIs, functions, agents, tables, a much wider request history search and so much more.
Why does this all matter?
The sheer amount of features is enermous, but what truly is important the direction. Xano is truly becoming a platform, not just a backend. The programmability, collaboration features, AI-enablement are clearly expanding Xano's horizon in both directions: lowering the barrier for new builders and raising the ceiling for power users.
If you’re as excited as we are, let’s connect. We’re always looking for feedback, contributors, and fellow builders who want to see how far we can take Xano together.
@calycode, we build open, reliable, and automated workflows for Xano that empower teams with clarity, transparency, and control. Our mission: make backend development safe, collaborative, and future-ready, so every team can ship confidently and trust the process.
We have a Chrome Browser Extension for Xano to get you rolling much faster and more reliable Xano systems. If you're curious how @calycode/cli works with Xano features, check out our repo, docs or drop us a message on Discord!
