Backup Your Xano Workspace According To Your Schedule
Xano allows a set of customization on the backup schedule and has recently increased the retention period of their built-in backup system. This is amazing, as they create an instance-wide backup.
Built-in backup:
- Full instance backup which means that they can port your whole instance with multiple workspaces. This is extermely useful and powerful for a full-migration scenario.
- Built-in Nothing works better with an infrastructure provider than their built-in methods, right?
Where it lacks is the flexibility in desigining custom backup schedules and custom retention periods. Lastly, it is a full-instance backup, so on restoration it can impact multiple other workspaces, which might not need a restoration.
Granular workspace backup via @calycode/cli
- Scoped to a workspace this means that it will create a full schema and data export for your workspace
- Custom schedule since it's a cli command, you are in control where and how frequently do you run these backups.
- Custom retention you can control where and for how long do you store a backup.
The highlighted benefits can improve mid-day or between-xano-built-in backups and can be a nice extension to those, to have more recent data and avoid dataloss in case of emergency.
Example usage:
Make sure to have the @calycode/cli installed, or use npx / dlx commands
caly-xano backup export --instance prod --workspace your-workspace-name --branch v1
